Self Assessment
When I look at the rubric, I feel that I have satisfied the requirements pretty well. We have written many research papers and I have done well on those, so I used those as a basis for the one on here. I am really proud of the three mini projects I had to do. The timeline one especially because I really did not know how I was going to get it on the website. I tried many programs but non of them were what I wanted so I ended up just doing it on a word document and saving it as a picture. The challenge that I had on this project was getting enough sources to meet the requirements on the research paper, between the official website and bio.com. it was frustrating figuring out which time line maker I was going to use also. I have about six new accounts that I will never use again, when all I ended up doing was fixing it on word.
I used my time in class very wisely I thought these past few weeks I have gotten the majority of the project done at school. The only things I had to do at home really was proof read and add the finishing touches to the website as a whole and the works cited page. I used my time wisely enough to where I wasn't feeling overwhelmed the weekend before it was due that is for sure. I was very surprised when I read about his early life and saw that he had been in a plane crash and had to have surgeries on his hips, spine, and skull. Through out his life he had have six spinal operations and two steel hips.
As I stated earlier I got the majority of my information from the official website and bio.com. The official website was by far my best source though. I could have written my paper just from that one website if I had had to. It was chock full of info, a lot of it I didn't even use in my paper. It had information about all his family, pages devoted to the short stories that he wrote before he got into children's' writing, and a interview with Dahl himself. This project differed from the many other research papers that we have had to write this year because of the addition of the three mini-projects, dear reader, and self assessment pages. These were all in addition to a research paper which we had the choice of putting on a website or printing each individual part out to put on a tri-board. Also our works cited page was different, this time since we were using pictures and videos we had to add them to our works cited page. Before we were just writing a regular research paper and did not need graphics to make the paper look appealing, this time though just words on a screen was not going to cut it.
